John Neville
John Neville has over 30 years of experience in mycological and microbiological research, teaching, and supervision. He has published in many peer-reviewed journals and studied under world renowned mycologists Dr. Bryce Kendrick, Dr. John Klironomos, and Dr. George Barron. He has received graduate teaching awards and has lead many fungal identification forays for field naturalist groups.
In January 2018, John Neville founded Mycologic Consulting LLC in South Lyon, MI after leaving the position of technical director of the microbiology department within the Novi, MI analytical laboratory of Bureau Veritas North America, Inc. He specializes in mycology, fungal identification, microbiology, terrestrial ecology, biostatistics, experimental design, and microbial sampling as it pertains to industrial hygiene, indoor air quality, and other various environmental systems. His management expertise includes supervision of laboratory analyses, quality assurance, training, client data interpretation, and business development. His education includes Bachelor of Science and a Masters of Science in Biology from the University of Waterloo, Ontario and a Doctor of Philosophy in Botany from the University of Guelph, Ontario.
Dr. Neville has been a member of American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA), Indoor Air Quality committee of American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM), Indoor Air Quality Association (IAQA), Michigan Industrial Hygiene Society (MIHS), North American Mycological Association (NAMA), and the Mycological Society of America (MSA). He has volunteered his time and environmental microbiology expertise from 2010 to 2015 on the Analytical Accreditation Board (AAB) within the AIHA Laboratory Quality Assurance Program (LQAP). One of his goals is help contribute towards standardization of microbiological analytical protocols used among commercial laboratories.
